From a semi-dried sapling to a Bonsai

This is one of the difficult ones, one of five plants in a large pot, known as a cassette. Its height was one meter. The plant has come a long way, it was brought here from a nursery in Italy. About a month after arrival, the plants started drying out. Only one of them kept a few green branches.

Five years ago, at the end of February, I decided to save the plant by transplanting it into another, larger pot and attempting to create a bonsai from it. Before replanting, I completely cut off the upper dry part and pruned all the dead branches. It turned out that the plants practically had no roots. Most likely, when they were potted, more roots were cut off than what was necessary to sustain the plant.

After transplanting, I gave the plant a root growth stimulant twice during the first year and regularly added "organic" fertilizer every two weeks. For two years, I left it alone, waiting for the plant to "strengthen." At the end of October 2015, I tried shaping for the first time, pruning and wrapping wire. By chance, I found a suitably sized, quite beautiful bonsai container, and in March 2016, I transplanted it into this container. In July of the same year (eight months after creating the wire framework), I removed the wires. I pruned the grown branches once a year. Unfortunately, after removing the wires, some branches of the bonsai did not retain their shape.

At the end of September 2018, I rewired it for the second time. I probably won’t touch it until May 2019, hopefully, the tree will retain this shape, and a beautiful bonsai will emerge.
